Baby-sitting is an easy way for a child over the age of 8 to make money. Ask neighbors and friends who have kids if they need a baby sitter. Post fliers around town or place an ad in the local paper to reach more parents who need a baby-sitter. According to Kids Money, the average rate in 2010 for a baby sitter over the age of 12 years old with one child is $7 an hour. You can also take the American Red Cross Babysitting course to learn CPR and obtain a license which makes you more knowledgeable and responsible.
