NutraceuticalNutraceuticals is broad term described as any non - toxic food component which in addition to normal nutritional values provides health benefits such as prevention of diseases and promotion of health. Nutraceuticals is grouped under following categories: dietary supplements, functional food, medicinal food, farmaceuticals.


The essential factor is that the component of the food must be standardized in the nutraceutical product and produced under good manufacturing practices (GMPs). Some key examples of nutraceuticals are allium compounds, anti-oxidants, digestive stimulants, flavanoids.
