If you enjoy talking to new people, become a vendor at a local swap meet. Renting a space at an open-air swap meet is traditionally less expensive than setting up shop at a brick-and-mortar store. Swap meets are open-air markets, often held in parking lots. Sponsors of swap meets rent spaces to vendors, sometimes on a daily basis. Vendors are typically responsible for supplying their own tables or booths. It is something you can do while holding down a regular job, as many swap meets take place on weekends. You might need a business license and a reseller permit. The trick is to find the right item to sell, and if you want to enjoy yourself, choose something for which you have passion, such as an extension to your hobby or other interests.
