Freelancer. com is a crowdsourcing website that matches freelancers with people who need projects completed. The projects range from graphic design to writing to data entry. The price range for projects varies widely – from as little as $3 to figures in the thousands.
Signing up is easy, no super personal information required. When you create your profile, you select your skills, include a biography and submit work samples. You also have the option to add a profile picture. I did all of the above to make my profile more compelling to hirers. (I was doing freelance writing, of course.) Once you sign up, you can immediately begin bidding on jobs. There are usually a handful or more of other bidders, so bid wisely in terms of how much you want to get paid and how long it will take you to finish the project.
I got my first two projects awarded my first day of signing up. They didn’t pay much; but I needed them to build my review score and make me a trustworthy candidate for higher paying jobs. Since then, I have completed multiple projects that paid me $200 and $300. There isn’t much more to it than that. Sign up, create your profile, bid on projects, complete the projects, and get paid. It is also a good way to build your portfolio is you are looking to become a professional freelancer.
One note – Freelancer. com takes a $5 or 3% service fee (whichever is higher) from every project you complete. Keep that in mind when bidding for lower priced projects.
